“Meico’s solid content, realistic approach and framework for developing a vision and plan for life changes were so inspiring. The course changed my daily approach to work and personal life in big and small ways. Go for it!”

— Deb L., Project Coordinator, Public Health Nonprofit

Picture this . . .

You’re committed to making a positive difference in the world.

But you struggle with finding balance.

From the moment you wake up, you’re bombarded with distractions—emails, texts, social media notifications, and back-to-back meetings.

You repeat this cycle of non-stop busyness and end up in a familiar place: burned out, overwhelmed, and juggling too many things at one time all in the name of trying to make the world a better place.

Sound familiar?

Now imagine this . . .

You have clear priorities aligned with your WHY.

You use your priorities to set clear boundaries.

You have a clear plan and support system in place to help you stay on track and get back on track when needed.

You understand how to prioritize well-being and ground yourself in what seems like a groundless world.

Because the truth is if you really want to make a difference, you must start by taking time for yourself right now because you can’t “change the world” if you’re not around long enough to make that happen.

“Life is happening in my constantly changing world and I needed a thoughtful structure for how I was going to "have balance" and The Mindful Techie has created a process (concise, thoughtful, and accountable) that a crazy non-conforming professional like myself can master. He is definitely my go to.”

— Monique W., Customer Success Manager and Business Consultant

Why Changemaker Well-Being is Important

  • Changemakers experience high levels of burnout, stress, depression, chronic illness, and weak personal and professional relationships.

  • Stress, burnout, and unhealed trauma will undermine our pandemic recovery if we don’t make personal and workplace well-being an urgent priority moving forward.

  • The need for what you do has never been greater. You are undoubtedly doing great work. But you can’t give your best if you’re not at your best.

  • The U.S. Office of the Surgeon General identifies five essential components of mental health and well-being at work that include: protection from harm, connection & community, work-life harmony, mattering at work, and opportunity for growth.

How Will This Retreat Help Me?

I won’t bore you with complicated data or complex case studies. I know you need practical strategies and resources to help you create sustained balance in your life right now.

While this retreat won’t miraculously solve every problem on your plate, it will provide the following:

  • Overview of the unique challenges changemakers face finding a balance between life and demanding work.

  • Insights into the traumas and mental and emotional roadblocks that get in the way of changemaker well-being.

  • Mindfulness-based and trauma-informed practical strategies to help you lower your stress level and focus on getting the important things done right now.

What We’ll Cover

**Note: you will receive a retreat dashboard with on-demand lessons for each of the sections after you register the retreat; the upcoming live weekend retreat is our opportunity to explore, implement, and expand on these topics in an intimate and interactive group setting. You’ll have access to the course videos and downloads for up to one year.

This retreat focuses on practices and strategies connected to the C.H.A.N.G.E. framework for well-being while well-doing.

C - Connect to your WHY

H - Honor and hone your priorities

A - Acknowledge and confront your fears and limiting beliefs

N - Negotiate and re-negotiate boundaries

G - Go within

E - Embody well-being while well-doing

We’ll tackle the inner work of addressing:

  • Guilt about not being able to get it all done with grace.

  • Fear of setting boundaries.

  • The anxiety of imposter syndrome.

  • Grief resulting from what we’ve lost in the transition to a post-pandemic world.

We’ll also tackle the outer work of practical shifts we can make as individuals in the changing workplace around:

  • Setting intentional goals.

  • Effective priority setting to finish the year strong.

  • Setting and protecting boundaries.

  • Making space to rest and recharge in a sustainable way.

When you register for the 2-Day Live Wellness Retreat, you can return for any of the live interactive sessions we host monthly.

Each month, we intentionally keep registrations limited in number so that new and past members can return and revisit the live implementation and guidance any month we’re hosting the live retreat. You’ll be in a smart, heart-centered group of changemakers just like you no matter which month you choose to join us.

And don’t forget: whether you can make any/all of the sessions live or not, you will keep one year of unlimited access to video lessons and handouts.

Many people refer back to the course content and implement new things each time, long after taking the live course.

This is a highly interactive live virtual experience. Come prepared to pause, reflect, and commit to making real change in your life and work.

“The session flow was smooth and the supporting materials appropriate. What was most striking was Meico’s ability to field challenging questions and comments with expertise and humor. Based on feedback from the fellows, the session was as much fun as it was transformative! I too walked away with some “precious nuggets” of insight about how to be more mindful and intentional in my leadership and personal life.”

—Lynette A., Director, Leadership Development Institute, ZERO TO THREE

Who is the Facilitator?

Hello Changemaker! It’s nice to meet you. I’m Meico Marquette Whitlock.

I’m a former non-profit communications director and techie. I’ve experienced more than my fair share of burnout and overwhelm in the name of saving the world. As a recovering workaholic, now I use what I’ve learned to help changemakers like you sustainably increase their well-being so they can increase their well-doing in creating a better world for all.

I’m the founder and CEO of Mindful Techie, author of the Intention Planner, and a certified trauma-informed mindfulness teacher.

Through speaking, training, and coaching, I facilitate transformative experiences that foster well-being in a hybrid world.

I have worked with organizations such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Cigna, and Greenpeace, and have been a featured speaker on ABC News, Fox 5, and Radio One. I'm also a former triathlete, love salsa dancing, and make the world’s best vegan chili! :-)

I hold an M.S. in Information Science from the University of Michigan and a B.A. in Political Science and Spanish from Morehouse College.

My mission is to provide practical step-by-step training, courses, coaching, and resources to increase the well-being of changemakers so they can sustainably increase their well-doing in creating a better world for all of us.

My vision is to create a culture of well-being for mission-driven nonprofit, association, philanthropic, government, and business leaders who are changing the world. This allows them to do their best work, live their best lives, and sustainably create a better world for all of us without burning out.

If you would like to register a team of 6 or more people for this program, please email meico@mindfultechie.com for pricing and registration instructions.

  • No. This isn’t a retreat about yoga, meditation, or chanting om! If you’re unsure, a skeptic, or are new to mindfulness, that’s perfectly okay. You don’t need to be a guru or true believer to find value in the practical evidenced-based strategies I share.

I use a mindfulness-based approach for two key reasons described below.

    1. Mindfulness is a powerful tool to help us slow down, pause, and simply observe what is without judgment and reacting rashly. Decades of research also show certain types of mindfulness practices such as meditation reduce stress and anxiety, and foster greater peace and well-being. It’s certainly had that effect on me.

    2. Many changemakers come to their work as a result of trauma (myself included) they may have experienced directly or indirectly. Although the work can be rewarding and engaging, work norms such as always putting the needs of others first, working long “hero” hours, doing whatever it takes no matter the personal cost, and never asking for help can make it all-consuming. I’ve found mindfulness to be a powerful tool for creating a safe space to acknowledge, confront, and heal personal and workplace trauma.
